Top 3 Study Spots

Psychological studies show that it may be more difficult for people to be focused in spaces like their bedrooms because it already has an association with relaxing and sleeping.  Spaces where you can solely associate with studying can help with procrastination and productivity.  As somebody who can’t study well at my house, here are the top three study spots relatively close to Norwell High School.

In third place is Panera.  The major pros of working at Panera are the late hours (closes at 9:30 most days), so after school and sports practices you can stay relatively late.  The proximity to the school is also a major pro.  Some issues with working at Panera is the constant loud music, you’d definitely want to bring headphones to drown out the noise.  You can talk with your friends freely if that is something you prioritize.  Additionally, it is a place to eat so lunch and dinner hours can get busy.  If you’re trying to save money, Panera might be a skip because it is hard to not buy food especially after a long day.

In second place is the Scituate Town Library.  Definitely the furthest location from Norwell High.  The library is new and modern with many study places.  Specifically the teen room in the down stairs portion is perfect for hanging out with friends while you work.  This factor may lead to unproductivity, but the upstairs still has a decent study space for individuals.  This library also closes at 9:00 so it is great for late night studying.

In first place is the Norwell Public Library.  Top tier for location and study spaces.  Where the study spaces in the Scituate library are open and in close proximity to each other, the layout of the Norwell Library allows for enough privacy for each person, in groups or alone.  The best place to study alone is along the window single desks.  Additionally, a library card allows you to book a study room for two or more people.  The most major downside is the hours.  Closed on Sunday, open until 8 from Monday to Wednesday, and open until 5:00 from Thursday to Friday, the Norwell Public Library has the least accessible times.

In summary, if hours is your most important aspect chose Panera or Scituate, and if individual study sessions and location is most important, choose Norwell.
