Everyone get ready for the holiday festivities. Let’s take a deep dive and look to see where Thanksgiving came from. Thanksgiving originated in Plymouth Massachusetts 1621. When the newly traveled English colonists had a feast with the Wampanoag people. This feast became a national holiday years later in 1863, when U.S president A. Lincoln declared it. The first Thanksgiving was a harvest celebration to the new English colonists in a way to thank God for their first successful harvest. Today Thanksgiving is a meal that shares the famous roasted turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, corn, and many other delicious foods. You may come across the Thanksgiving Parade hosted by Macy's in New York City. That first started in 1924 and has been going on successfully ever since with new inflatable characters and different artists who perform. Let’s not forget about Black Friday! Black Friday is the day after Thanksgiving where there are huge sales from every retail store. A lot of Christmas presents can be bought during this time for a cheaper price.

At the dinner table this year for Thanksgiving, share what you're most thankful for and what you’re excited to do coming into the holiday season. Enjoy the time off with friends and family.

Fun Thanksgiving Facts:
