This fall, Nowell’s Norwell Volunteer Corps (NVC) has been working hard not only to make a difference within the school but also throughout the town. With over 200 members, the club continues to promote the values of service and compassion among all Norwell High School students.

When the first term kicked off in September, NVC immediately began offering a variety of volunteer opportunities. From helping at elementary school “Stay and Play” events to assisting the Cole PTO Mom’s Kickball event, students were able to get involved beyond the walls of the high school and start giving back to their community. NVC has also been able to extend opportunities such as the peer tutoring program, which offers free academic support to any Norwell student who signs up.

As the spooky season arrived, volunteers brought their energy to local Halloween events, including “Trunk or Treats” and the Norwell Historical Society “Cemetery Comes Alive Tour”. Every single event this fall has been a success thanks to the dedication of our student volunteers and the leadership of club advisor Ms. Blumberg and the club's president and co-vice presidents.

Looking ahead, NVC has plenty of exciting opportunities planned. Members will soon be supporting NHS’s Fourth Wall Players during their three night performance of Mamma Mia! by helping out with ticket and concession sales. Volunteers can also get involved with the SSYMCA Nature Center’s "Cranberry Day” event by assisting with arts and crafts stations, concessions, admissions, and more. Be sure to continue to look out for other opportunities and events to get involved in around town.

The Norwell Volunteer Corps is more than just a way to earn service hours. It's a community that promotes connection within the school and the town. Through empathy and action, NVC continues to teach students that small acts of kindness can make a difference.
