With a Cheer from the players, who were racing off the field. Fans looked up to the score board that had 30-0! Norwell's jv football team dominated the game last Saturday, October 4th, in a huge win over East Bridgewater. From the start of the game to the end, Norwell never took its foot off the gas.
The win was foreshadowed early with a quick defensive stop, and then a 26-yard TD march finished by Rory Merrifield. The defense prevailed once more, causing another three and out, and almost like magic Jude Smith busted through on a 40-yard sweep into the end zone. Jude Smith seems to be picking up steam, hoping to find another touchdown this game.
East Bridgewater flickered for a moment with life, moving 30 yards down the field only to have their momentum extinguished by Norwell's ferocious linebackers. Then Jude Smith did it again. Breaking through five tackles, he burst into the end zone for his second 40-yard touchdown, clearly having his best game of the year.
The second quarter was the same. After another defensive stand, Trystan Sheridan led the offense with a 25-yard run into the red zone, which ended in a reverse play where Gus Kerwin ran in a touchdown from 10-yards and a huge pancake block by Rory Merrifield set this up. On the next defensive drive, CJ Williams forced and recovered a fumble, taking Norwell to their final offensive series.
By the fourth quarter, Norwell finally ran out of gas, but with seven sacks and a monstrosity of a game by the Norwell linebackers this was a huge shutout win for Norwell, 30-0. Jude Smith's performance stood out from the rest as he recorded over 100 rushing yards and two amazing touchdown runs. This win not only boosted the spirits of the team but gave Norwell a 2–1–1 record and real momentum heading into their biggest game of the season against Abington.
