Welcome to NHS
As the school year continues to the second term, students and teachers are settling into their new classes and new environments well. For many, like Norwell High School’s newest teachers, the first day jitters have settled down, and the community has continued to grow in inclusivity and congeniality. After talking to a few of NHS’s new teachers I was able to grasp a sense of the kind of community NHS is and the hospitality our students show to newcomers. Mr. Hamilton, a math teacher who formerly taught at Boston Latin Academy, applauded Norwell’s “close knit community.” Ms. Shara, a biology teacher who formerly taught at Rising Tide Charter School, described her time so far this year as less stressful and she is “loving it.” While Mr. Hamilton and Ms. Shara came from two very different environments with Boston Latin being a larger school than NHS and Rising Tide being smaller, they both had very similar compliments for the NHS community. Norwell has proven to be a perfect balance of everything each teacher had at their former school, as well as closer student relationships and enthusiastic and energetic learners.
