As the school year begins, the excitement is evident in Norwell High School’s halls. The freshman class has integrated well into the school’s culture and the school year has started smoothly. Especially amidst such a pandemic, it is refreshing to see the cheery faces (even half covered with masks) in the halls. Many students have shared their thoughts on the school year, including freshman Addie Amon. She says that “freshman year so far has been a great experience filled with great teachers and new experiences.” Many freshmen have enjoyed the freedom of high school, a contrast to middle school. Isabelle Bousquet “feels like high school gives [her] more opportunities than middle school to make choices and mistakes that help [her] further develop as an adult.” This independence is gladly welcomed by the freshman class. Teachers as well have been excited for the new year. Students have remarked on how “different high school is to middle school” and how much “higher the expectations are” but gratefully welcome the challenge. Now that the year is underway, sports, clubs, and other activities have begun with a bang. The freshman class has joined said activities wholeheartedly and are accepting the challenges of high school.
