The Strike on the Detroit 3
This past week you might have seen something about car manufacturers going on strike, but what does this really mean? In America for many of our labor intensive jobs we have a union group to go with it. These unions are there to protect the employee making sure he gets paid the way he should and gets the benefits he should get. If at any point the union workers feel that their workplace is unfair they can go on strike. In this case the United Automobile Workers union or simply UAW has decided to go on strike on the Detroit 3. The Detroit 3 consists of 3 of Americas most sought after car brands like Ford, General Motors (GM), and Stellantis (Jeep, Dodge, Ram, ect). Due to the constant debate on pay within these factories the union workers have decided to go on strike and shut down the factory until they can reach an agreement on pay. Strikes can go on for days and even months, as a result of the strike the main company will lose tons of money because of a slowed manufacturing rate. If targeted hard, it can even push some dealerships to the ground forcing them to close. Our union workers definitely do deserve a load of cash because they make things happen that regular people just simply can’t do. Overall we don’t know how long this will go on for but all we can hope is that the manufacturer can reach an agreement with the union workers and get the assembly lines back up and running.
