The Investment Club

This past Wednesday, we held our first meeting for the Investment Club. It was a great showing as we had over 50 participants. At the meeting, I presented a presentation that was designed to establish a baseline understanding of the stock market for all members of the club. The club is centered around a stock market game. On Wednesday, we assembled our groups to invest with, and at the next meeting, we plan to make our first investments. Each group of students is given a credit of $100,000 dollars. The money is obviously not real, but it gives members of the club a chance to invest in the stock market in real time without putting money on the line. The idea is to get novice investors a chance to invest in the stock market, picking up little tricks and strategies, so when it is real money, he or she is in the best possible position to succeed. I will also make and present a presentation for each meeting, assisting members in their pursuit of developing their understanding of the stock market. If that was not enough to sell you on the club, it should also be mentioned that it looks great on a college resume, especially if you are considering majoring in a field associated with business.
