Thanksgiving Mini Spirit Week

Thanksgiving is a time to be thankful for everything we have and to come together as a community. Around Thanksgiving time, family and friends come together, are thankful for what they have, and often engage in activities such as playing or watching football or participating in a turkey trot. At Norwell, we center our spirit week around these ideas.

Monday: Football Day!

The week started off with football day where everyone shows their football spirit. This is followed by the traditional juniors versus seniors Powderpuff game that Monday night, where the girls play and boys coach them. Football day also gets everyone excited about the Thanksgiving football game.

Tuesday: Cause Day

Every year each grade chooses a cause and a color to represent that cause. This year the seniors wore white for the Gavin Kenney Foundation, the juniors wore purple for Maddie’s Promise, sophomores wore pink for Breast Cancer Awareness, and Freshmen wore green for the John Hughan Foundation. These are all amazing causes and hopefully we can continue to come together as a community and support these foundations.

Wednesday: Blue and Gold!

Wednesday is always the best day of this short week, with it both being a half day and a pep rally day. I wish I could say on Wednesdays we wear pink, but how about on Wednesdays we wear blue and gold. At the Thanksgiving pep rally, it is less of a competition between the grades and more of a chance to bring the school together. This year we got to see the grades participate in events like finding the cherries in a pie eating contest, apple bobbing, dodgeball, and tug of war. Also, how could you forget about the annual turkey toss with families competing to win; shout out to the Bostrom twins for winning this year.
