Pushing Hard to Achieve Their Goals: Football Fun Underway!
Two weeks ago Norwell High School started off the football season, and there aren’t many rule changes -- just wear your mask under your helmet the entire time. The first week of practice was helmets only, the freshman practiced on the pavement because of the snow and the varsity team went to the turf. We started wearing full equipment this week and picked things up a little bit. Freshman and varsity had their first scrimmage. Both teams faced off against Cohasset. Instead of keeping score, each team switched off running ten plays on offense each possession. The first games start around March 12th when both freshman and varsity play Mashpee. The season goes through April vacation and there’s a tournament for the varsity team. In the cold weather with the practices being long, both teams are pushing hard to achieve their goals this season with winning many games. Both teams play in D6 and face off against towns like Abington, Rockland, Hull, Middleboro, and Cohasset. The freshman team was put into a JV division, so they play against sophomores and juniors even though they are an all freshman team. The coaches and staff are doing a really good job getting the kids back on the field and getting them prepared for a great season to come. It sure will be fun to play and grow as a team and get ready for the fall season next year.
