Norwell Freshman Basketball

The Norwell freshman basketball team only has one blemish in our record, because Middleborough beat us at their home court. All of our games have been absolute blowouts and this team was the one to put a stop to our reign of terror over the other South Shore basketball teams. But today we got a chance to get vengeance over these rivals, and this time it was on our court, where the Clipper community could watch us destroy this team that had once beaten us. In the first quarter, we came out slow, missing every wide-open layup in sight, but by the end of the quarter, we were hot with a comfortable lead of ten points. With anger in our eyes, we came out in the next quarter not missing any shots. From everywhere on the court we were threading balls into the hoop just like we were the Boston Celtics. But most of all, our defense was impenetrable. We exited the second period with an astounding lead of thirty-five points, the score was fifty to fifteen. Although we were up by such a large amount of points, Middleborough was willing to do anything to have a 2-0 record against the best freshman team in all of the South Shore. Bad news for us, we came out after halftime lazy and looking like we didn’t even want the win. They scored point after point and locked us down on defense too. By the end of this quarter, we were tired as well as defeated after the opposition cut our lead in half. We were up by 16 points by the end of the third quarter but Middleborough had all of the momentum. We battled through the first half of the last quarter, both teams were scoring point after point and matching each other’s intensity, but we decided to turn up the heat. We went on to score basket after basket as well as stopping them on defense. The Clippers were able to pull out the glorious victory over the team that had previously conquered them.
