Norwell Cares Day: The Success of the 12th Grader’s Senior to Senior Day
On September 27, the students of Norwell High School participated in Norwell Cares Day, a yearly event that is centered around community and connection. The ninth graders had a freshman kick-off, the tenth graders cleaned up the town, the eleventh graders visited the elementary and middle schools, and the twelfth graders hosted a day of fun for local senior citizens. Student’s grandparents and members of Norwell’s senior center were invited to join in on a “senior to senior” day, where senior students and senior citizens got to connect with one another through fun activities. From rock painting to chair volleyball to corn hole, there was never a dull moment in this senior to senior event. Participants drifted from activity to activity, but the clear fan-favorite was the drum circle; all of the seats were filled in each session. The teacher, a well known teacher at the senior center, engaged all of the participants and had everyone smiling by the end. After a morning of drumming and other fun activities, the Sarcastic Swine food truck arrived to cater the event, something that had not been done since COVID. The delicious food was a hit among senior students and senior citizens alike, leaving everyone happy and full. Since it was a beautiful and sunny day, everyone ate lunch outside together, a wonderful end to a wonderful day. Overall, Norwell High’s senior to senior event was a success that did a fantastic job at connecting people within our community.
