Noelle Lambert’s Presentation
On October 25, Norwell High School was given the opportunity to speak with the American Paralympian track and field athlete and motivational speaker, Noelle Lambert. Noelle Lambert is a former division one lacrosse player for the Riverhawks and attended the University of Massachusetts where she obtained a criminal justice degree. In 2016, Lambert faced a fatal moped accident immediately losing part of her left leg and upon arriving at Boston Medical Center it was inevitably going to be amputated above the knee. The eyes of the lacrosse world were upon her not soon after as she recovered and returned to the field, scoring her team the leading point just eighteen months later, in April of 2018. Transitioning into track and field, Noelle Lambert set the U.S record time of 16.31 seconds during the World Para Athletics Championships, in 2019. The following year Lambert qualified for the Tokyo Paralympic Games, finishing in sixth place with a U.S record time of 15.97 seconds in the 100 meter T-63. Noelle Lambert hopes to continue training to participate in the Paris Olympics of 2024. After taking time to recover, Lambert took her mother’s advice to join the reality-competition show, Survivor, participating in season forty three. With minimal accommodations Lambert finished in eighth place, not once letting her disability make her take a step back. Lambert also saw to the development of the Born to Run Foundation in hopes to influence other young amputees to lead active, eminent lives. Norwell High School students and staff are beyond grateful for the opportunity to speak to Noelle Lambert as we take on the recognition of hope, determination and perseverance.
