Movie Showing at NPS

The movie “Where’d You Go, Bernadette” was played November 9th at the Norwell Public Library as an extra credit opportunity for students at Norwell High School. Many students attended the event in the Norwell Public Library’s new movie showing room. Pizza, snacks, candies, and desserts were served during the showing. The film, based off of the book by Maria Semple in 2012, was adapted into this motion picture starring Cate Blancett as the neurotic failed architect Bernadette Fox. Students had mostly positive responses to the movie, going as far as to call it a “cinematic masterpiece like no other”. The film covers Bernadette, a middle aged retired architect living in a decaying yet enormous house in a suburban neighborhood in Seattle. The movie follows her somewhat spiral into her past and present situation, and her distaste towards people in general and odd behaviors drives her family apart. Her struggles are mistaken as insanity, and she finds herself farther away from the people she loves most as ever. The film is an adventure, from Seattle to Anarticia, filled with heartwarming moments and tearjerkers, with some feuding neighbors, Russian spies, and penguins thrown in the mix. It shows the hardships that people endure and shines a light on mental health awareness. The movie contains a vast array of interestingly crafted characters, interwoven storylines, and inspiring moments. This extra credit opportunity was highly worth it and a movie I’m glad I saw, along with the other students who attended.
