Boys Varsity Basketball

The Norwell boys basketball team is off to a great start. The boys are undefeated to start the year and have no sign of stopping anytime soon. Led by head coach John Willis, the Clippers last year had an eighteen and two record and were led by senior captains Ryan Luccarelli and Connor O’hare. With wins and a league championship, it was tourney time. In the first matchup of the playoffs, The Clippers had a home matchup with the nearby Cardinal Spellman Cardinals of Brockton. It was all Clippers prevailing to a convincing fifty nine to thirty six win over the Cardinals sending them to the sweet sixteen. Next game at Norwell high School had the Clippers taking on the East Boston Jets. Down early the Clippers rallied and managed to pull off the victory forty nine to forty six. The Clippers advanced to the elite eight versus the Taconic Regional Warriors of Pittsfield. Outmatched the Clippers fell in overtime fifty one to forty seven. In the offseason the team grew stronger and was ready to be back on the court. With returning talent including two starters the Clippers were preparing for a great season. Senior Captains Nick Adams, Ronan Coffey and Will Bostrom headline the starting lineup as well as Sophomores Jack Luccarelli and Charlie Williams. Head Coach John Willis is in his thirty-first year at the helm of this team. Norwell is currently ranked as the number one seeded team in the state for division three boys basketball in the newest MIAA power rankings. With their most recent win over Holbrook eighty seven to fifty four, the Clippers are at a perfect eight and o record. The Clippers host Randolph High School this Friday January 17th at 6:30 PM in the Norwell high school gymnasium.
