Robotics Update

The Norwell High School robotics team is hard at work in preparation for their first competition. The first weekend in March the team will be going to Connecticut to participate in this competition against other schools around the New England area. However these events are not just for competing, as the company FIRST, who hosts these events, designed the game that is played to include teamwork as well as competition. Each year FIRST designs a new game that will be played requiring robots with different skills. For example, this year the game is called Infinite Recharge and consists of two teams of three going against each other. Both teams have multiple ways to score points, which include picking up and shooting balls into holes at different elevations, spinning a colored wheel to a certain position, and having their robots hang from a bar at the end of the match. With each year having a different game, a new robot must be built, and the Norwell Robotics Team is rushing to finish theirs. There are multiple elements that need to be completed for the robot to be ready for the competition, such as finishing the coding, smoothing the edges of the robot, and making sure the robot does not violate any of the FIRST rules. However the entire robotics team are putting forward their best effort and are excited for their first competition of the year.
