Kick off to a Great Year: Robotics
On January 4th, team 348 was introduced to a new set of rules and different ways to play. We entered the UppaBaby HQ and watched the broadcast of the new competition, Infinite Recharge. Everyone gathered together to form a plan on how we should create the robot, what is legal, illegal, and what is needed to create the robot. The new Star Wars theme brought a new atmosphere to robotics and much more creativity to be used. The new mechanics brought to the game are challenging, but there are no challenges that we can’t handle. We are going to have to work as hard as we can to build the robot in these next couple of weeks. The field is fairly big and bumpy, and in order to score points our robot needs to cross the whole field. We plan to make a robot that is effective and efficient on speed and has tires that can get over the bumps. The robot needs a lot of different mechanics like the hook and the space needed to collect the balls. We have to compact all of that into a small dimensions. As of now we are in week two until the competition and our progress has greatly exceeded expectations. Averaging about 20 students 5 days a week has made a huge impact. Thanks to UppaBaby, the team was provided with snacks and a fun space to think of ideas and watch the kickoff. We really appreciate the generosity of the UppaBaby Corporation to aid our robotics team with a safe space to brainstorm for our eventful season.
