The 4WP Winter Season: Review
During this past weekend, the Norwell High School theatre company (the Fourth Wall Players) put on two wonderful productions, Allan R. Kenward’s Cry Havoc, and Wendy MacLeod’s Women in Jeopardy!. The first was directed by senior Allison Ward, a longtime member of the 4WP, who performed in the other show as well. The plotline of this devastating wartime drama followed a group of volunteer nurses, working to survive and help others on the Bataan Peninsula in World War II. This play, with cast members of all ages, was very entertaining, due to its style, which combined a dreary and thought-provoking mood with bits of humor, and its performance, which was wonderfully executed by the cast. By the end of the production, the audience was surely captivated and devastated, as the ending was quite sad, with all characters involved being killed. But the cast did a wonderful job portraying their characters realistically and in an entertaining way. In a completely different fashion, the festival play, Women in Jeopardy! was a lighthearted comedy fantastically performed by the 4WP’s upperclassmen members. The show had many plot twists and modern references that had the audience in stitches throughout the entire show. The 4WP in this production knew how to use the script in a hilarious way, and will surely succeed in Sunday’s Festival Competition! Good luck to the cast in their upcoming performances, and I encourage all readers to check out the 4WP performances in the spring!
