Calm Classroom Review
Calm Classroom is a new practice brought to the high school in the 2017-2018 school year with hopes of making students more relaxed and less stressed out during the day. It was introduced by guidance in September and is carried out in the classrooms twice a day. The purpose of calm classroom is to relax students so that the school day is not as stressful and feels a bit easier to tackle. The technique also helps students regain focus throughout the long school day. Most students find it nice to be able to have a few minutes every day to just sit and take their minds off of their schoolwork. Simple breathing patterns or small bodily movements make up the five minutes set aside for the practice.
The teacher-led exercises take up such a small portion of the day that it is easy to forget about the practice. With quizzes and tests, teachers have grown more forgetful of the practice since the beginning of September. As the school year progresses, the stress level of most students increases and the need for calm classroom is more crucial. It is encouraged that the students participate in the excersises now that they can pick which one to do.
