C: How long are you in America for?
J: “Until end of the school year (June).” C: How do you like America?
J: “Very good and very cold and exciting.” C: Favorite new food?
J: “Mac and Cheese and s’mores.”
C: Biggest difference? J: Schools: “Public schools are much better than in Paraguay, the overall education is much better here.”
Meals: “Breakfast is very light, lunch is the biggest meal, and dinner is smaller in Paraguay.”
C: How did you feel when you first saw snow?
J: “It is very pretty, like being in my freezer.” C: What was the scariest thing about coming here?:
J: “I was nervous about having problems with my new family or not adapting into school.”
C: How do you feel now
J: “I Iove my family, we get along very well and I can be myself and school is good I have made many friends.”
C: What do you miss most about home?:
J: “My family, some Asado which is what we have at at a barbecue but it is not like burgers and hot dogs. The warm weather.”
C: What is a new activity you have tried?:
J: “Cross country. I really enjoyed it.”
C: Did you play any sports at home?:
J: “No my school in Paraguay does not have sports or clubs.”
C: Biggest difference from your school to NHS?
J: “Here you get to choose some of your classes and students switch classes whereas in Paraguay the teachers switch classrooms. There are only 10 kids in my grade when there are more than 150 kids my grade here.”
C: What is your favorite holiday in Paraguay?
J: “Semana Santa (Holy Week); we have a week off of school for Easter.”
