College Clips: Part One

Question: How is the college process going for you?

November 15, 2016

K.C.: “It’s going good, ah, you know. Not too much progress has been made but, you know, I’ve done the common application stuff and have a few schools on my list.”

C.W.: “It’s going well. It’s a little stressful, but not really since I've already put in all the work with the grades and things, and now I just have to submit my applications. And um, we’ll wait for the responses.”

T.C.: “I think the Norwell Guidance Department does a very good job with helping us prepare for college, they like do all the logistical stuff, but I’m just concerned, like, how us Norwell kids are going to actually do at college. But, no, I’m looking forward to it. I think that, like, everybody in Norwell has good credentials and that they know they are in the right place to get where they need to be next year. But, I’m just like, the transitioning will be difficult, but getting there is not going to be the worst part; we have the administration do all that. The end product where we’re on our own is what I’m worried about.”

B.B.: “Um, you know, I feel like I’m ahead of the game. All of my applications are going smoothly. Trying to find a college that fits all my needs is hard, but I’m well on the track and the guidance counselors of the school- shoutout to Mrs. Greene!- have helped me a lot.”

L.A.: “It’s just fantastic. It’s a little stressful when you talk about it with everyone and get their opinions on how far ahead they are versus how far ahead you are, and realize you’re not far ahead at all. But, slow and steady wins the race, and you know, revise, review, edit, and just apply. Apply yourself and apply to some colleges!”

A.S.: “It’s stressful and it’s painful, and I want it to all be over. And um, I’m just trying to power through and uh, roll clips.”

A.F.: “Well, mine’s really not that stressful because I’m applying ED and it's due in like a couple weeks anyways. So, I’m just applying to one school now. But then, if I, like, don’t get in, then I have to apply to all my other schools by January first.”

M.B.: “It’s very stressful. I think it’s really hard because, for me personally, I know that a lot of schools that I’m looking at, where they don’t offer early action, they only offer early decision or regular decision. And sometimes when you do early decision, it gets you- it like increases your chances of getting into a school. Kind of weighing that over, like, being able to have options, is very stressful, I think. That’s one of my main issues in seeing which way I’m going to go.”
