Lexi's Monthly Musical Review: November

Hello, readers and welcome to this month’s edition of Lexi’s Monthly Musical Review! This month I will be reviewing Heathers: The Musical!

Background/Synopsis:

Based on the 1989 cult classic Heathers, Heathers: The Musical is about three girls who are in a clique and are all named Heather. When a nerdy girl named Veronica Sawyer joins the clique, she becomes infatuated with Jason Dean (who is called JD), a psychotic and vengeful teen. After being humiliated by Heather Chandler (the one in red) at a party, Veronica confides in JD and he swears to fight for her. The next day, JD gives Heather Chandler drain cleaner after telling her that it's a hangover cure. JD and Veronica forge a suicide note so they won't get caught. After the death of two football players and the fake death of Veronica, JD plans to take revenge on the entire school. The show ends with everyone wishing they can just be “seventeen” and be kind to each other like they used to.

My Review:

I LOVE this musical! It has an interesting plot and characters, the music is fantastic (one of my dream roles is Heather Chandler) and the comedy is so well done. I also love the fact that characters talk like real high school students (swearing and sexual references are in many of the songs). My favorite songs in the show are Candy Store and Dead Girl Walking. With its 80’s rock feel and amazing choreography, Heathers: The Musical is one show that I highly recommend and I hope to do this show here at Norwell High!

Recommend Age Group: NO ONE UNDER 13 should listen to this!

Thanks for reading,

Lexi Ray
