Congressional Art Awards
“Each spring, the Congressional Institute sponsors a nationwide high school visual art competition to recognize and encourage artistic talent in the nation and in each congressional district. Since the Artistic Discovery competition began in 1982, more than 650,000 high school students have participated.” -From the official US House of Representatives website
This year fifteen Norwell High School art students were selected to submit works to Congressman Keating’s District 9 Congressional Art Competition. We are excited to announce that the judges have picked the following students’ pieces as winners in our district!
Hope Antonellis - 1st Place, Paintings
Sophia Hultman - Honorable Mention, Paintings
Isabella Diaz - Honorable Mention, Computer Generated
Caleb Getto - 1st Place, Drawings
Ivy Watson - 2nd Place, Drawings
Tessa Holleran - Honorable Mention, Collage
Honored participants also include - Victoria Austin, Sahana Bail, Sarah Bawabe, Seamus Gilmore, Abigail Lambert, Hannah Lind, Makenna Palzkill, Samantha White and Ethan Wu.
All 15 pieces can be viewed this weekend at our district's Congressional Art Show in Plymouth. Most work will also be on display at the annual Norwell Public Schools Fine Arts Festival on May 19th at the high school.
