A little while back on the 31st of January, a new band, Milque Toast, was introduced to the local music scene with their first gig at the C-note in Hull, MA. This new group consists of many very talented musicians, two of which are students from Norwell High. Because the local music scene consists mostly of Alt-Rock/Alt-Punk bands focusing on high energy, it was a nice change to hear this funk/rock band change up the vibe of the C-note. Lead singer, Julia Hoitt, added a much different, more relaxed feel to the normal hyped up atmosphere, and instead left the crowd grooving to their soulful music. Adding on to their creative style, they included a small horns section and an extra percussionist, along with their talented main drummer, Stephen Sifflard. At their very first gig they had the entirety of the crowd standing in awe at intricacies of their performance and the layers incorporated into their music along with their professional stage presence. These musicians, also including a skilled bassist and lead/rhythm guitarist are a new, exciting example of the variety of genres that can be found just about anywhere in our local scene. So far there haven’t been any more announcements for their schedule, but they already have plenty of fans hooked just based off of that one gig.
