January 25th, marked an unforgettable day for the Lawson family and the Norwell Community as a whole

.

Last month, the Norwell Boys Basketball Team faced Hanover in a friendly match as part of the Andrew Lawson Foundation Invitational, which was held at the TD Garden. Throughout the day, there was a total of eight games, all contributing to the foundation. The Lawson Foundation, in honor of Andrew Lawson passing away in 2018, hopes to improve the lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Many people from Norwell came to the invitational game in support of the fundraiser and the family. Seeing the vast crowds of students, teachers, friends, and families flow into the Garden, filling row after row of seats, was truly amazing. As each person entered with a smile, the overall warmth and support of the atmosphere continued to escalate. Norwell, although a small town, was able to create such a massive impact on this event through everyone’s uplifting and heartfelt dispositions. The town of Norwell should be incredibly proud of the numerous individuals who came together as a community to support the Lawson family and the Andrew Lawson Foundation.

For all of those who had the pleasure of knowing Andrew Lawson, they know that he was one extraordinary young man. Andrew was extremely hardworking and dedicated, caring and loving, and surely never lacked spirit. Andrew certainly left his impact on everyone he crossed paths with in his lifetime. He was a classmate, teammate, and coach in Norwell. The Andrew Lawson Foundation will continue to honor the life of such a remarkable individual, as it continues to raise money in order to help support people with disabilities.
