Spirit Week

Back in October, Norwell High School had its annual spirit week! The students had a wonderful time dressing up to match the theme of each day, and the energy from Friday’s pep rally guided the Norwell High Varsity Football team to victory that night. Altogether, the week was a wonderful introduction to Homecoming weekend, topped off by a Friday victory and an exciting Saturday dance! Here’s a recap of the week:

Monday was color wars, during which each grade was assigned a different color to adorn. Freshmen were green, sophomores were red, juniors were white, and seniors were black. It was very interesting to see the school divided so clearly, and students definitely tried to show their grade pride. Here is a picture of us seniors on Monday:

Tuesday’s theme was Grease (the movie), during which the whole high school did its best to recreate classic 1950s looks. Leather jackets and bandanas were a popular choice of attire! Everyone looked very retro and chic during this day!

On Wednesday, the theme was country vs. country club, a new and very fun competitive theme! Whereas some students chose to represent the country style with cowboy boots and plaid, many others adorned tennis skirts and visors, in order to represent the preppy look. This day was a fantastic new idea, and gave students the opportunity to show their inner cowboy or golfer!

Thursday was Norwell’s “wall day”, in which the whole school has an overall theme, but grades’ individual aspects of that theme differ. The theme was “terrains,” with the freshmen representing the arctic, the sophomores representing the jungle, the juniors representing “under the sea” and the seniors representing space. The variation between grades was extensive, but all the styles were unique and so fun! And one thing was for sure: few people were spared from glitter! Students definitely put a lot of effort into these outfits.

Friday was the final day of spirit week, and the annual blue and gold day! This day is unique, as seniors blow horns all day long, and there is a special schedule. Although ears were ringing for the whole day, this lighthearted fun enables students to gain a sense of competition that they bring to the pep rally at the end of the day! Seeing a whole gym decked out with blue and gold was awesome, and everyone really gave this final day their all!
